What is the Back To School Sale Event?

The school calendar in South Africa runs from January to December and the Back To School Sale Event is an extremely popular event in the retail calendar following immediately after the Christmas/New Year’s Sale. After Christmas has passed, families begin to plan for the next year, especially getting all the essentials for their children’s return to school come January. They are not alone, because retails stores begin hanging down Christmas decorations as well and replacing them with Back To School Sale signs. The Back To School Sale is equally popular amongst parents with children starting school for the first time and those who need to replenish or replace their children’s existing school essentials such as stationery, school uniforms and other miscellaneous items. The Back To School Sale comes in handy and gives parents some financial relief after spending so much money over the December holidays.

When is it?

Primary and Secondary schools in South Africa re-open on the 9th of January 2023. Most universities and colleges re-open from the first week of February onwards. The Back To School Sale mainly caters for the Primary and Secondary School-going children. The Back To School Sale runs from the first week of January until the second week of February.
